Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Metview up to 4.7.2. Affected is some unknown processing of the file etc/ObjectList of the component URL Handler. The manipulation of the argument BROWSER as part of a Environment Variable leads to a injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
etc/ObjectList in Metview 4.7.3 does not validate strings before launching the program specified by the BROWSER environment variable, which might allow remote attackers to conduct argument-injection attacks via a crafted URL.
