A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Biometric Shift Employee Management System (affected version not known). This issue affects the function download_form of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument form_file_name with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Biometric Shift Employee Management System allows Arbitrary File Download via directory traversal sequences in the index.php form_file_name parameter in a download_form action.
The bug was discovered 12/28/2017. The weakness was disclosed 12/30/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-17992 since 12/29/2017.
