Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in POCO C++ Libraries up to 1.7. Affected by this issue is the function ZipCommon::isValidPath of the file Zip/src/ZipCommon.cpp of the component Compression. The manipulation as part of a ZIP File leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The ZipCommon::isValidPath() function in Zip/src/ZipCommon.cpp in POCO C++ Libraries before 1.8 does not properly restrict the filename value in the ZIP header, which allows attackers to conduct absolute path traversal attacks during the ZIP decompression, and possibly create or overwrite arbitrary files, via a crafted ZIP file, related to a "file path injection vulnerability".
