Apple AirPort Express prior to 6.1.1 and Extreme prior to 5.5.1, configured as a Wireless Data Service (WDS), allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (device freeze) by connecting to UDP port 161 and before link-state change occurs.

The bug was discovered 01/11/2005. The weakness was shared 01/12/2005 by Dylan Griffiths with Thock.com as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-0289 since 02/10/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
