A vulnerability was found in Google Android 8.1 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Media Framework. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The bug was discovered 01/05/2018. The weakness was released 01/02/2018 as Android Security Bulletin - January 2018 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is available at source.android.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-13183 since 08/23/2017. Local access is required to approach this attack.
