__init__.py in f2py in NumPy before 1.8.1 allows local users to write to arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a temporary file.
The bug was discovered 02/13/2014. The weakness was released 01/08/2018 by Jakub Wilk (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-1858 since 02/03/2014. An attack has to be approached locally. The requirement for exploitation is a authentication.
