The TLS stack in Mono before 3.12.1 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to conduct message skipping attacks and consequently impersonate clients by leveraging missing handshake state validation, aka a "SMACK SKIP-TLS" issue.
The bug was discovered 03/07/2015. The weakness was released 01/08/2018 by Inria (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-2318 since 03/17/2015. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1587.003 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
