Details
A vulnerability was found in IBM Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager 2.5/2.6/2.7 (Directory Service Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with the input value /../ leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
IBM Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager 2.5, 2.6, and 2.7 could allow a remote attacker to traverse directories on the system. An attacker could send a specially-crafted URL request containing "dot dot" sequences (/../) to view arbitrary files on the system. IBM X-Force ID: 133638.
The bug was discovered 01/05/2018. The weakness was released 01/09/2018 by ryan with IBM X-Force (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at ibm.com.
