Details
A vulnerability was found in Yii Framework up to 2.0.13 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function switchIdentity of the file web/User.php of the component CSRF Token Generator. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-352. The web application does not, or can not, sufficiently verify whether a well-formed, valid, consistent request was intentionally provided by the user who submitted the request. Impacted is integrity. In Yii Framework 2.x before 2.0.14, the switchIdentity function in web/User.php did not regenerate the CSRF token upon a change of identity.
The bug was discovered 01/14/2018. The weakness was presented 01/22/2018 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-6009 since 01/22/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
