A SQL Injection issue was discovered in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA versions prior to V8.2_20170817. WebAccess/SCADA does not properly sanitize its inputs for SQL commands.
The bug was discovered 01/23/2018. The weakness was disclosed 01/25/2018 by rgod with Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-5443 since 01/12/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11860 (Advantech WebAccess Multiple Security Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 8.2_20170817 eliminates this vulnerability.
