A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 57.x (Web Browser). Affected is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. Memory safety bugs were reported in Firefox 57. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory corruption and we presume that with enough effort that some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 58.
The bug was discovered 01/23/2018. The weakness was presented 01/23/2018 by Abdulrahman Alqabandi with Tencent as MFSA 2018-02 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-5090 since 01/03/2018. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
