XSS Auditor in Google Chrome prior to 64.0.3282.119, did not ensure the reporting URL was in the same origin as the page it was on, which allowed a remote attacker to obtain referrer details via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 01/24/2018. The weakness was released 01/24/2018 by Masato Kinugawa (Paul) with Tencent (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at chromereleases.googleblog.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-6051 since 01/23/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
