A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Splashing Images Plugin up to 2.1.0 on WordPress (WordPress Plugin). This issue affects an unknown code of the file admin/partials/wp-splashing-admin-main.php. The manipulation of the argument session as part of a GET Parameter leads to a code injection vulnerability (Serialized). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. admin/partials/wp-splashing-admin-main.php in the Splashing Images plugin (wp-splashing-images) before 2.1.1 for WordPress allows authenticated (administrator, editor, or author) remote attackers to conduct PHP Object Injection attacks via crafted serialized data in the 'session' HTTP GET parameter to wp-admin/upload.php.
The bug was discovered 01/26/2018. The weakness was published 01/30/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-6195 since 01/24/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

Upgrading to version 2.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
