A vulnerability has been found in Joomla CMS up to 3.8.3 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Hathor postinstall Message Handler. The manipulation as part of a Variable leads to a sql injection vulnerability. In Joomla! before 3.8.4, the lack of type casting of a variable in a SQL statement leads to a SQL injection vulnerability in the Hathor postinstall message.
The weakness was disclosed 01/30/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at developer.joomla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-6376 since 01/29/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy.
