A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Zabbix up to 1.8.20/2.0.12/2.2.4/2.3.1 (Network Management Software). Affected is an unknown part of the component XML Data Handler. XML external entity (XXE) vulnerability in Zabbix 1.8.x before 1.8.21rc1, 2.0.x before 2.0.13rc1, 2.2.x before 2.2.5rc1, and 2.3.x before 2.3.2 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files or potentially execute arbitrary code via a crafted DTD in an XML request.
The bug was discovered 06/17/2014. The weakness was published 02/01/2018 by pnig0s as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-3005 since 04/25/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
