A vulnerability was found in jackson-databind up to 2.8.9/2.9.0 (Programming Language Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function readValue. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-502. A deserialization flaw was discovered in the jackson-databind in versions before 2.8.10 and 2.9.1, which could allow an unauthenticated user to perform code execution by sending the maliciously crafted input to the readValue method of the ObjectMapper. This issue extends the previous flaw CVE-2017-7525 by blacklisting more classes that could be used maliciously.
The bug was discovered 11/14/2017. The weakness was disclosed 02/06/2018 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-15095 since 10/08/2017. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 2.8.10 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
