Adobe Experience Manager versions 6.3, 6.2, and 6.1 are vulnerable to cross-site scripting via a bypass of the Sling XSSAPI#getValidHref function.
The bug was discovered 02/13/2018. The weakness was disclosed 02/13/2018 as APSB18-04 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at helpx.adobe.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-4876 since 01/03/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
