Huawei S12700/S5700/S7700/S9700 RSVP Packet input validation

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Huawei S12700, S5700, S7700 and S9700 (affected version not known). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component RSVP Handler. The manipulation as part of a Packet leads to a input validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the properties that are required to process the data safely and correctly. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Huawei S12700 V200R005C00, V200R006C00, V200R007C00, V200R008C00, S5700 V200R006C00, V200R007C00, V200R008C00, S6700 V200R008C00, S7700 V200R001C00, V200R002C00, V200R003C00, V200R005C00, V200R006C00, V200R007C00, V200R008C00, S9700 V200R001C00, V200R002C00, V200R003C00, V200R005C00, V200R006C00, V200R007C00, V200R008C00 have a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability. Due to the lack of input validation, a remote attacker may craft a malformed Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) packet and send it to the device, causing a few buffer overflows and occasional device restart.

The bug was discovered 12/25/2016. The weakness was presented 03/09/2018 with Huawei (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at huawei.com.
