A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in PoDoFo 0.9.5 (Document Reader Software). Affected is the function PoDoFo::PdfTokenizer::GetNextToken of the file PdfTokenizer.cpp of the component PDF File Handler. In PoDoFo 0.9.5, there exists a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in PoDoFo::PdfTokenizer::GetNextToken() in PdfTokenizer.cpp, a related issue to CVE-2017-5886. Remote attackers could leverage this vulnerability to cause a denial-of-service or potentially execute arbitrary code via a crafted pdf file.
The bug was discovered 03/09/2018. The weakness was presented 03/09/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-8000 since 03/09/2018. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
