A vulnerability was found in Ipa up to 4.4.0-13. It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown processing of the component Permission. Ipa before version 4.4.0-14 did not properly check the user's permissions while modifying certificate profiles in IdM's certprofile-mod command. An authenticated, unprivileged attacker could use this flaw to modify profiles to issue certificates with arbitrary naming or key usage information and subsequently use such certificates for other attacks.
The bug was discovered 01/02/2017. The weakness was shared 03/13/2018 with Red Hat as Bug 1395311 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-9575 since 11/23/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
