A vulnerability has been found in Samba 4.0.0 (File Transfer Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Print Spooler Service. All versions of Samba from 4.0.0 onwards are vulnerable to a denial of service attack when the RPC spoolss service is configured to be run as an external daemon. Missing input sanitization checks on some of the input parameters to spoolss RPC calls could cause the print spooler service to crash.
The bug was discovered 03/13/2018. The weakness was released 03/13/2018 by Ligen with Intel as Bug 1538771 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-1050 since 12/04/2017. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
