A flaw was found in the way spice-client processed certain messages sent from the server. An attacker, having control of malicious spice-server, could use this flaw to crash the client or execute arbitrary code with permissions of the user running the client. spice-gtk versions through 0.34 are believed to be vulnerable.
The bug was discovered 03/19/2018. The weakness was disclosed 03/14/2018 as Bug 1501200 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-12194 since 08/01/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
