A vulnerability was found in OpenCA up to 1.5.6.4. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function Cart::getProducts in the library system/library/cart.php. The manipulation of the argument quantity as part of a Parameter leads to a xml external entity reference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-611. The product processes an XML document that can contain XML entities with URIs that resolve to documents outside of the intended sphere of control, causing the product to embed incorrect documents into its output. The Cart::getProducts method in system/library/cart.php in OpenCart 1.5.6.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to conduct server-side request forgery (SSRF) attacks or possibly conduct XML External Entity (XXE) attacks and execute arbitrary code via a crafted serialized PHP object, related to the quantity parameter in an update request.

The bug was discovered 07/14/2014. The weakness was disclosed 03/20/2018 by Egidio Romano as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-3990 since 06/06/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
