The Content Editing Wizards component in TYPO3 4.5.0 through 4.5.31, 4.7.0 through 4.7.16, 6.0.0 through 6.0.11, and 6.1.0 through 6.1.6 does not check permissions, which allows remote authenticated editors to read arbitrary TYPO3 table columns via unspecified parameters.
The weakness was released 12/10/2013 by Georg Ringer with TYPO3 Security Team as TYPO3-CORE-SA-2013-004: Multiple Vulnerabilities in TYPO3 CMS as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at typo3.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-7073 since 12/11/2013. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The successful exploitation needs a authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue. Failing to check for user permissions, it is possible for authenticated editors to read (but not update or change) content from arbitrary TYPO3 table columns by forging URL parameters.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 71782 (Debian DSA-2834-1 : typo3-src - several vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 169121 (OpenSuSE Security Update for typo3-cms-4_7 (openSUSE-SU-2016:2114-1)).
Upgrading to version 4.5.32, 4.7.17, 6.0.12 or 6.1.7 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
