A vulnerability was found in Studio 42 elFinder up to 2.1.36. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function zipdl of the file elFinder.class.php of the component Incomplete Fix CVE-2018-09109. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Studio 42 elFinder before 2.1.37 on Windows has Directory Traversal via the zipdl() function in elFinder.class.php, resulting in file deletion. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2018-9109.
The bug was discovered 03/28/2017. The weakness was shared 03/28/2018 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-9110 since 03/28/2018.
