A vulnerability was found in WireMock up to 2.15.x. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component XML Data Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. WireMock before 2.16.0 contains a vulnerability that allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to access local files beyond the application directory via a specially crafted XML request, aka Directory Traversal.
