A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function process_ipmovie_chunk of the file libavformat/ipmovie.c of the component Uninitialized Data Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a uninitialized resource vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-908. The issue has been introduced in 10/29/2013. The weakness was released 12/13/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as avformat/ipmovie: Fix use of uninitialized memory in OPCODE_INIT_VIDEO_BUFFERS as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.videolan.org. The public release was coordinated with the project team. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
