A vulnerability was found in Palo Alto PAN-OS 5.0.9 (Firewall Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component Zone Protection. An IP Spoofing check for Zone Protection did not work when SYN Cookie was enabled.

Upgrading to version 5.0.10 eliminates this vulnerability. It is possible to mitigate the problem by applying the configuration setting SYN Cookie = Off. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
