A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in FFmpeg 2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). This issue affects the function wv_unpack_stereo of the file libavcodec/wavpack.c. The impact remains unknown.
The issue has been introduced in 10/29/2013. The weakness was published 12/23/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as avcodec/wavpack: clear remainder of data in case of error in wv_unpack_mono/stereo() as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.videolan.org. The public release has been coordinated with the project team. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
