Details
A vulnerability has been found in Invincea-X 6.1.3-24058 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing in the library SboxDrv.sys. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability (Kernel Memory). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An exploitable double fetch vulnerability exists in the SboxDrv.sys driver functionality of Invincea-X 6.1.3-24058. A specially crafted input buffer and race condition can result in kernel memory corruption, which could result in privilege escalation. An attacker needs to execute a special application locally to trigger this vulnerability.
The bug was discovered 06/30/2017. The weakness was shared 04/24/2018 by Cisco with Cisco Talos (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-9038 since 10/26/2016. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
