On Some Huawei AR routers that receive a large number of SSH authentication attack packets with malformed data, legitimate users fail to log in through SSH. Attackers can construct massive attack packets to cause the AR routers to deny SSH login from legitimate users.
Upgrading to version V200R002SPC003 or V200R003C01SPC300 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at support.huawei.com.Proper firewalling of tcp/22 (ssh) is able to address this issue. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The advisory contains the following remark:
When an AR router encounters SSH DoS attacks, users can use other login modes, such as Web, Telnet, or the console port, to log in to the AR router.
