A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in gofer up to 0.67. This issue affects an unknown code block in the library /var/lib/gofer/journal/watchdog of the component Permission. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a permission vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-275. Impacted is integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
gofer before 0.68 uses world-writable permissions for /var/lib/gofer/journal/watchdog, which allows local users to cause a denial of service by removing journal entries.
The bug was discovered 08/20/2015. The weakness was presented 05/04/2018 as Bug 884854 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-5628 since 10/24/2012. An attack has to be approached locally. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication.
