A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function ogm_header of the file libavformat/oggparseogm.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability.
The issue has been introduced in 10/29/2013. The weakness was published 01/06/2014 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as oggparseogm: check timing variables as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is available at git.videolan.org. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
