A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Tenable Nessus up to 7.0.3 (Security Testing Software). Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Session Management. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session fixiation vulnerability. Authenticating a user, or otherwise establishing a new user session, without invalidating any existing session identifier gives an attacker the opportunity to steal authenticated sessions. In Nessus before 7.1.0, Session Fixation exists due to insufficient session management within the application. An authenticated attacker could maintain system access due to session fixation after a user password change.
