A vulnerability was found in Synology Photo Station up to 6.8.5 (Network Attached Storage Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code of the file admin/user.php. The manipulation of the argument modify_admin as part of a Parameter leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-352. Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in admin/user.php in Synology Photo Station before 6.8.5-3471 and before 6.3-2975 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators via the (1) username, (2) password, (3) admin, (4) action, (5) uid, or (6) modify_admin parameter.
The bug was discovered 03/29/2018. The weakness was released 06/08/2018 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at synology.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-8925 since 03/22/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
