A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in mdadm up to 13.1 on openSUSE. Affected is an unknown code of the file mdcheck of the component Script. The mdcheck script of the mdadm package for openSUSE 13.2 prior to version 3.3.1-5.14.1 does not properly sanitize device names, which allows local attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root.

The bug was discovered 12/17/2014. The weakness was presented 06/08/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at lists.opensuse.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-5220 since 08/13/2014.
