Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Exadel Flamingo amf-serializer 2.2.0. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component AMF3 Deserializer. The manipulation as part of a Serialized Java Object leads to a deserialization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Java implementation of AMF3 deserializers used in Flamingo amf-serializer by Exadel, version 2.2.0 derives class instances from java.io.Externalizable rather than the AMF3 specification's recommendation of flash.utils.IExternalizable. A remote attacker with the ability to spoof or control an RMI server connection may be able to send serialized Java objects that execute arbitrary code when deserialized.
The bug was discovered 04/04/2017. The weakness was shared 06/11/2018 by Markus Wulftange as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org.
