If a document's Referrer Policy attribute is set to "no-referrer" sometimes two network requests are made for "<link>" elements instead of one. One of these requests includes the referrer instead of respecting the set policy to not include a referrer on requests. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 57.
The bug was discovered 11/14/2017. The weakness was disclosed 06/11/2018 with Mozilla as Bug 1397064 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-7842 since 04/12/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Upgrading to version 57 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
