A vulnerability has been found in Totemo Encryption Gateway up to 6.0.0 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block. Multiple cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerabilities in totemomail Encryption Gateway before 6.0.0_Build_371 allow remote attackers to hijack the authentication of users for requests that (1) change user settings, (2) send emails, or (3) change contact information by leveraging lack of an anti-CSRF token.
The bug was discovered 05/15/2018. The weakness was published 06/20/2018 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-6563 since 02/02/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed by Compass Security and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 36 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
Applying the patch 6.0.0 Build 371 is able to eliminate this problem.
