Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in 389-ds-base up to 1.3.5.16/1.3.6.9. Affected is an unknown code of the component ns-slapd. The manipulation as part of a LDAP Bind Request leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
389-ds-base before versions 1.3.5.17 and 1.3.6.10 is vulnerable to an invalid pointer dereference in the way LDAP bind requests are handled. A remote unauthenticated attacker could use this flaw to make ns-slapd crash via a specially crafted LDAP bind request, resulting in denial of service.
The bug was discovered 06/22/2018. The weakness was disclosed 06/22/2018 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com.
