Untrusted search path vulnerability in the installer of Visual Studio Code allows an attacker to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in an unspecified directory.
The bug was discovered 05/17/2018. The weakness was published 06/26/2018 with Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions, Inc. (Website). The advisory is shared for download at jvn.jp. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-0597 since 11/27/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation.
