The image creation configuration in aaa_base before 16.26.1 for openSUSE 13.1 KDE adds the root user to the "users" group when installing from a live image, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information and possibly have other unspecified impacts, as demonstrated by reading /etc/shadow.
The weakness was released 12/25/2013 as openSUSE-SU-2013:1955-1 as confirmed posting (Mailing List). The advisory is shared at lists.opensuse.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-3713 since 05/30/2013. An attack has to be approached locally. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. On systems installed via the Live Media that /etc/shadow file was readable by the "users" group, which was not intended. (bnc#843230, CVE-2013-3713)
