A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in FFmpeg 2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). Affected is the function decode_nal_units of the file libavcodec/h264.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The issue has been introduced in 10/29/2013. The weakness was released 01/18/2014 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as h264: reset ref count if decoding the slice header fails as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository).
