The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-4260 since 01/02/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It is assigned to the family MacOS X Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 371059 (Apple Safari 11.1.2 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2018-7-9-5)).
Upgrading to version 11.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
