Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in qutebrowser up to 1.4.0. Affected is an unknown code of the component qute:/ Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-352. The web application does not, or can not, sufficiently verify whether a well-formed, valid, consistent request was intentionally provided by the user who submitted the request. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
qutebrowser before version 1.4.1 is vulnerable to a cross-site request forgery flaw that allows websites to access 'qute://*' URLs. A malicious website could exploit this to load a 'qute://settings/set' URL, which then sets 'editor.command' to a bash script, resulting in arbitrary code execution.
