A vulnerability was found in TeamViewer up to 13.1.1548 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file TeamViewer.exe of the component Password Storage. TeamViewer through 13.1.1548 stores a password in Unicode format within TeamViewer.exe process memory between "[00 88] and "[00 00 00]" delimiters, which might make it easier for attackers to obtain sensitive information by leveraging an unattended workstation on which TeamViewer has disconnected but remains running.
The bug was discovered 07/17/2018. The weakness was disclosed 07/17/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-14333 since 07/16/2018. The attack needs to be approached locally. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication.
