Mozilla Firefox before 27.0 and SeaMonkey before 2.24 allow remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy and obtain sensitive information by using an IFRAME element in conjunction with certain timing measurements involving the document.caretPositionFromPoint and document.elementFromPoint functions.

The weakness was shared 02/04/2014 by Jordan Milne as MFSA2014-05 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-1483 since 01/16/2014. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
