Race condition in libssl in Mozilla Network Security Services (NSS) before 3.15.4, as used in Mozilla Firefox before 27.0, Firefox ESR 24.x before 24.3, Thunderbird before 24.3, SeaMonkey before 2.24, and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (use-after-free) or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors involving a resumption handshake that triggers incorrect replacement of a session ticket.
The weakness was released 02/04/2014 by Brian Smith, Antoine Delignat-Lavaud and Karthikeyan Bhargavan as MFSA2014-12 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The public release was coordinated with Mozilla. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-1490 since 01/16/2014. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
