A vulnerability was found in CloudForms up to 5.9.0.21 (Cloud Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Self-Service UI. The manipulation of the argument name with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability (Stored). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. A flaw was found in CloudForms before 5.9.0.22 in the self-service UI snapshot feature where the name field is not properly sanitized for HTML and JavaScript input. An attacker could use this flaw to execute a stored XSS attack on an application administrator using CloudForms. Please note that CSP (Content Security Policy) prevents exploitation of this XSS however not all browsers support CSP.
The bug was discovered 11/24/2017. The weakness was shared 07/27/2018 with Red Hat as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-15125 since 10/08/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
