This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
It was discovered that libXdmcp before 1.1.2 including used weak entropy to generate session keys. On a multi-user system using xdmcp, a local attacker could potentially use information available from the process list to brute force the key, allowing them to hijack other users' sessions.
The bug was discovered 02/28/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/27/2018 with X41 D-Sec GmbH as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-2625 since 11/30/2016. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1600.001 for this issue.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 32 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 101569 (Fedora 26 : libXdmcp (2017-09f65e5e00)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 236421 (Red Hat Update for X.org X11 libraries (RHSA-2017:1865)).
Upgrading to version 1.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
